#6 Vet in Wandsworth, Greater London
Stone Lion Veterinary Hospital is part of the Goddard Veterinary Group (RCVS accredited). It appears set up for hospital-level care, including round-the-clock treatment and overnight stays: reviews describe pets being admitted for intensive monitoring (e.g., an eye infection needing “round the clock treatment”) and emergency care being provided overnight (including a Christmas Eve night shift).
Owners frequently mention regular updates while a pet is hospitalised (sometimes “usually twice a day”), and examples of more complex care such as eye surgery (enucleation) and access to a heart specialist for a heart murmur. Recent reviews also show a split experience: some describe excellent communication and kindness in urgent situations, while a minority report long waits for discharge, missing medication, lack of callbacks, and dissatisfaction with cost and communication.

We have recently joined the Goddards practice in Wimbledon Village and had been impressed with the routine care for our 2 kittens. However, when one of those kittens was injured in an accident this week, the emergency care we received was excellent. It was such a relief to know he was in good hands and he’s now almost back to his former mischievous self. Thank you so much.

I wanted to express my deepest thanks to Dr Laurence and the veterinary nurse (I’m so sorry I didn’t catch your name) who were working the night shift on Christmas Eve. Their kindness, patience, and compassion meant so much to us. They took such wonderful care of our elderly cat, Larry, and also of us, during a very worrying time. We are very grateful, especially knowing how busy and demanding it must have been to be working over the holiday period. Thank you!

I have had my pets registered at this surgery for a number of years. Very sadly, the level of care and availability has decreased, whilst the prices have increased. This includes missing pills, and being asked to pick up medication when it isn't ready. The last straw was recently, when my cat became ill, and no one called me back for over 48 hours, despite being told to expect a call. I chased a number of times and was left in the lurch. The locum nurse Sergio was also very obstructive and rude. I no longer trust this practice with the health and wellbeing of my pet. Whilst it is disappointing to end a long relationship with Goddard Stone Lion like this, there are no shortage of friendly and competent veterinary practices. I'm going to Creature Comforts.

I would recommend this veterinary hospital to anyone. In my eyes they saved my French Bulldog dog Billy he was so ill. The staff ALL staff were great and pleasant and kept me up to date on how Billy was doing each day usually twice a day. Thankyou again from myself and from Billy. 10/10

We are so grateful to all the staff at Stone Lion Veterinary Hospital for the wonderful care they took of our beloved cat Peggy this summer. She had a rather nasty and persistent eye infection and the vets and nurses did absolutely everything possible to try and save her eye. Peggy had to be admitted to hospital while we were away as she needed round the clock treatment, and everyone gave her so much love and attention. The vets kept us informed daily on how she was doing and she could not have been in better hands. Unfortunately due to our own financial restrictions we were unable to explore every suggestion to save the eye and as it was so painful for her we had to make the decision to remove it. Her operation was handled sensitively, professionally and quickly to ensure Peggy was able to recover as soon as possible and her after care has been amazing. The staff clearly care about the well being of their patients and we are so happy to have our Peggy back feeling more like her old self again!

September 2025 Another excellent experience this week. My dog Ted was very poorly with vomiting and belly pain. The vets at Stonelion took excellent care of him and he was soon better. We are so happy to live so close to this wonderful vet practice As well as the excellent vets, I want to add how kind and welcoming the rest of the team are. The reception staff and nurses are always friendly, patient, and make the whole experience so much easier. It really feels like everyone here cares. September 2025 We have also seen the heart specialist Adam for Max who has a heart murmur. How lucky we are to have this expertise to help us with Max. Thank you Stonelion we appreciate all you do for us September 2024 Amazing vets, I wouldn’t go anywhere else My two Shitzus Ted and Max have had many great experiences at Stonelion for the past 10 years. Absolutely shocking experience. We were left sitting in a consultation room for over 2½ hours waiting for a vet to discharge us after Fluffy’s overnight stay. The bill came to over £900 for one night with bloods, yet the vet made no effort to explain the results or what had actually been done. She was incredibly rude, dismissive of our concerns, and even told me that my cat was not welcome at the practice because she is on a different insulin to what they use. She only changed her tone once she realised my daughter is a highly qualified vet in LA, USA — but by then it was far too late. This whole experience caused huge stress at an already difficult time. For the cost and seriousness of treatment, I expected clear communication and compassion, not to be left waiting for hours and treated so poorly. It left me with no trust in their care and I ended up cancelling my other cat’s operation as I could not risk going through this again. The nurse and reception team were excellent, but the behaviour and attitude of this vet were unacceptable. After coming here for years, I am saddened that it had to end like this — but after being told Fluffy was not welcome, I will take my cats somewhere they are truly valued.

The vets, the nurses and the reception staff were attentive, thorough, and explained everything clearly so I could understand what was happening and what the options were. Their dedication and gentle approach made such a difference, and I always felt that my dog was in the best possible hands. It’s not just their expertise that impressed me, but also the genuine warmth and empathy they showed throughout. I am so grateful for the outstanding care they provided—both medically and emotionally. Thank you for everything you did for us. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this surgery to anyone who needs trusted, compassionate, and expert veterinary care.

All the staff at this veterinary clinic which including the nurses and doctors are extremely attentive and professional. In particular, Dr. Francesca was very thoughtful, she knew our English wasn't very good, so she took the time to write everything down and explain our dog's Bun Bun condition clearly to us. We feel very lucky to have found this clinic and it's amazing team. If your dog or cat ever falls ill, I truly recommend bringing them to this clinic, their care and professionalism here are exceptional.
